Company Information Review

Season VI Company Packet

The Compound Dance Complex has a competition program for dancers wishing to excel in dance and explore experiences on a higher level of participation. This program is a commitment for
the full dance year. Our program offers Tap Company, Hip Hop Company, and Technical Company (Jazz/Musical theater and Contemporary/Lyrical) and a pre-company (ages 6-10) company. Dancers can choose to participate in one or all three company styles.
 

Requirements:
Dancers are required to take summer classes pertaining to the
styles of dances they would like to compete in.
 Requirements for summer and fall sessions are as follows.
Tap Company (ages 9+) -All dancers are required to take one tap and

one jazz recreational class.
Hip-Hop Company (ages 9+) -All dancers are required to take one Hip-Hop
and one additional recreational class of your choice.
Technical Company (ages 8+) -(Jazz/Musical theater and Lyrical/Contemporary)- All dancers
are required to take one Ballet, one Tech, one Jazz and one Lyrical.

Pre- Company (Ages 6-10) - All dancers are required to take pre-ballet and the Lyrical/Jazz combo class. Must have 5 dancers accepted for this to be a competition group. This group will only be competing in either competing in lyrical or jazz or both. This decision will be up to the instructor. 

Fall/Spring session will also include the company group practices along with their recreational classes.
Dancers must be in a large group in order to be eligible for a small group.
Note: If you choose all 3 styles, your requirements would be:
one Tap, one Hip-Hop, one Tech, one Ballet, one Jazz and one Lyrical class.

Additional requirements:Dancers must all have a notebook for competition season. Dancers must have access to a phone or device (access to parents' device counts) as we send videos/music home to practice dances on a regular basis, dancers must have resistance bands and yoga blocks for an at home stretch and strength routine. All company parents must agree to make sure their dancer is working and practicing at home weekly for all of their dances.


Solos, Duets and Trios: You must be in at least one competition
piece of your Solo, Duet, or Trio style, and be taking all required classes for that style.

You also must be in more groups total then your total of solos, duets, and trios. If your dancer chooses to do a solo, duet or trio they are required to practice their dance at home weekly. We have limited studio time for these slots which will be used for choreography and cleaning. Practicing and memorizing what they learned each week is required homework.

Dancers in our Company Collective program may have up to one solo and and one duet/trio

Dancers in our Intensive Program may have up to two solos and three duets/trios

Groups will be announced in mid August. Dancers will placed in groups based on their technique, commitment, ability, age and levels, this could include large and small groupings based on levels and interest in each style. Not all dancers will be guaranteed a spot on company. Your child may be asked to participate in a duet or trio for a piece the instructor feels would be a good fit.
There will be required additional choreography rehearsals for group pieces the week of August 23rd-August 29th to get a bulk of the choreography completed before moving into fall
session. These choreography rehearsals will be $15.00 per dancer per hour. Each piece will be scheduled for multiple hours throughout the week.
Competitions and what to expect:
*Our competition team will be participating in 3 mandatory competitions and one mandatory convention. Select groups may be picked to compete at this convention.

*Pre-company dancers will be participating in 3 mandatory competitions and the conventions are optional.

We will have one suggested convention that will be optional for all dancers to participate in as an optional convention. All dancers are more then welcome to travel and compete in additional competitions/conventions of their choice.
*Expect a budget of a minimum of $125.00 for each competition costume (this could around $200 for the technical costumes.)
Costumes fees will be due and ordered  at the end of September. Please note: shoes are not included in the costume fees. All dancers will also be required to have company earrings, and a company jacket Which are separate additional fees. These costumes, earrings and jackets will be worn at all competitions.
*There will be budget friendly make-up requirements for all members on company.
*Costumes will be chosen by the instructor and may include 2-piece costumes for group pieces.
*Coaches fees are $30.00 per competition per dancer.
*Each competition has different fees for their group fees approximate fees to expect are: large and small groups/$85 each dancer, solos/$190, duets/$100 (each dancer), trio/$100 (each dancer) These fees are generally due a few months before the competition.
*All travel costs are the responsibility of each family.
*Convention fees are approximately $345 per dancer plus the competition fees.

Solos/Duets/Trios:
Dancers wanting a solo/duet/trio will have one 1/2 hour private every other week. Choreography fees for these pieces are $280.00 and are due no later then a week after being accepted into the program. ($280/solo, $140 per dancer/duet, $95/per dancer Trio.)

Weekly private lessons: Solos are $25/half hour, Duets are $20 each dancer/half hour, Trios are $15 each dancer/half hour. If a dancers practice needs to be cancelled, please give us a two hour notice. If a notice is given within the two hours or under your payment will still be required in this case.

Please provide 3 song preferences of your choice that the instructor will consider. Dancers will collaborate with the instructor on costume choices for these dances. Once our schedule is released, you will be assigned a time slot based on your application availability. No times will be pre-reserved.

Higher Intensive Program-This program is for dancers that would like to compete and take move conventions with a goal of reaching a higher level of training. For this program dancers must agree to compete at 6-8 total competitions/conventions, this includes events at further distances which may include out of state travel. Other requirements/commitments for this program include-helping backstage when asked, being in additional group dances, must compete a solo at all competitions, have additional homework, help in the studio with organizing, cleaning, assisting, prop set up and take down for the dances at competitions, setting a high example for all dancers in the studio and being in charge of sending out all class videos from all dances youa re placed in if you are assigned to.

** During competition season the week leading into the event we will be combining solos, duets and trios for rehearsal right before their competition. In this case, dancers are still required to pay full price for their lesson.

2025-2026 Company Contract


Schedule: *Summer-Dancers are required to take classes based on the requirements for the company groups they are interested in. Additionally, it is highly recommended that your dancer enroll in any additional classes to increase their skill and ability. Dancers are required to be in their company group classes they are chosen for during choreography week of August 23rd-August 29th. These practices will be $15 dollars per dancer per hour. Each piece will be scheduled for multiple hours throughout this week.
*Fall–Dancers are required to take classes based on their company requirements. Additionally, it is highly recommended that your dancer enroll in any additional classes to increase their skill and ability.

Dancers are required to practice at home weekly their company pieces and be ready to move on or clean each dance by gthe next practice. It is difficult to move on and finish dances in a timely manner when dancers forget what they learned the previous week.

Attendance Policy: All company dancers are required to be at all choreography sessions scheduled throughout the summer.

*Absent for class – Company Rehearsal classes ARE REQUIRED. You may not miss any company rehearsal the week of a performance or competition. If you miss rehearsal, you will not perform or compete and risk losing your spot due to the need to change formations and the routine to accommodate your absence. The only exception to this policy is a school event where a grade is at stake or major illness. In that instance, you must provide written notice, at least 6 weeks prior to the event for approval. Text messages will not be accepted. Extra rehearsals may be scheduled throughout the year if deemed necessary. These rehearsals will be $15 an hour. All extra rehearsals are mandatory. If you are mildly ill (headache, injury, ect), you are expected to come sit and watch all practices. *Dancer’s must not be in any other sports, activities, or employment that conflict with classes or performances.*All recreation classes pertaining to your style/styles of company dance ARE REQUIRED. Dancer’s must have an attendance record of no less than 90% of the year. If you exceed this, your placement on company will be reevaluated. •

If a dancer cannot preform or finish the season each competition dancer must agree that if chosen by the coach they will fill in as a alternate if needed.

If a dancer quits anytime after being placed in their groups, there will be no refunds for any fees (this includes fees for competions/conventions already turned in.

Absent for a performance/competition – If you miss a performance or competition (without prior permission), the dancer will not dance in the next performance and may be removed from the routines and become a permanent alternate for those dances.

*As a general rule, please give a 30 day notice prior to an absence. Please email known conflicts to your coach. Except for illness, last minute calls will not be tolerated. Absences will be excused

for severe sickness and school activities where a grade is at stake.
*Tardiness – You must be on time to every class. Extensive tardiness could result in removal from a performance or competition or may require private lessons at the discretion of the coach at your expense.  Tow tardies, equals one absence from class.

Students may not be late for any performance/competition. All dance families are required to stay active through their emails they provide as this is our main form of communication and where all of your important information is sent.


Hair & Make-up: All members are required to do their hair and make-up as requested. Make-up requirements will be posted in the company section of the website. Makeup is to purchased by each family for their dancer.


Costumes: Costumes need to be well maintained throughout the season. If a repair is needed, please bring it to the coach’s attention. Any damaged or lost costume will result in a new one being purchased or made at your cost including shipping, rush fees, alterations, etc. If a dancer forgets costume, accessories, shoes or tights for a
performance/competition, it is the coach’s decision whether or not the dancer will be allowed to perform. If a dancer quits, is removed by the coach or dismissed during competition season they must turn over the costumes to the studio to be used for an alternate dancer. No refunds or returned costumes will be given. Company jackets must be worn at all times when not competing at the venue. Jackets must also be worn at the awards ceremonies.


Sportsmanship: Any dancer or parent who exhibits poor sportsmanship will not be allowed to compete in future competitions. This means respect for judges, competition staff, other dancers, teachers and parents. This is a zero tolerance policy. Parents are also required to be good ambassadors of The Compound Dance Complex. Any
complaints, problems, or other issues should always be directed to the coaches. Additionally, we will be strictly enforcing a no-gossip policy. We work hard to provide a positive, thorough dance education and experience for each company dancer. Gossip defeats our efforts. If you or your dancer has any concerns regarding other dancers or
parents, coaches or teachers, please reach out to the director immediately so that the problem can be solved as quickly and effectively as possible.
